Ivey alum tests his mettle through extreme sports

Erwin Szeto

Ivey alum Erwin Szeto, HBA '02, is quite terrified of heights, but you wouldn't know it from his hair-raising hobbies.

Even the simple task of hanging Christmas lights on a short ladder scares Szeto to no end. However, this hasn't stopped him from bungee jumping, ziplining, and walking along the edge of the CN Tower, to name a few of his daredevil feats.

In a piece for the Globe and Mail's Passion Projects, Szeto recounts how conquering his fears can be beneficial in business too.

“I rode roller-coasters as a kid, as much as they scared me. And when I started this business, I had a lot of fears,” he explains. “With the extreme sports stuff, part of it is to challenge myself in all areas to learn to overcome my fears. I get the experience so then I can overcome things and they become easier.”
