Skill set integration and teamwork are the keys to a successful business pitch.

In an interview on AM1290 CJBK’s show London @ Large, Assistant Professor Larry Plummer discussed these skills and the skills students learn from business plan competitions. Plummer argued the idea of lone entrepreneurship is a myth.

With the 19th annual IBK Capital – Ivey Business Plan Competition and the inaugural Spin Master – Ivey HBA Business Plan Competition approaching this weekend, MBA and HBA teams have the chance to get high-powered judges and investors excited about a business pitch.

“You have to work together as a team to paint a picture of a business plan in our minds,” said Plummer. “The teams are a mixed group of people with different skill sets that collaborate and talk about the left brain creative side of the business plan, while considering the nuts and bolts, like cost. The key thing they learn is the integration of these factors.”
