Four HBA students, competing in two two-person teams, have advanced to the top 10 finalists for Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec. It’s a remarkable feat for the two teams, as the competition began with 178 entries.

The first team consists of classmates Amanda Chan and Tom Grainger. The second is a brother duo, made up of Justin Tan and Matthew Tan.

Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec is a Canada-wide marketing and advertising case competition for business students, but the organization promises it’s much more than that. The website tells participants the competition is their “big break into the industry.”

The goal of the competition is to successfully pitch a marketing campaign to the competition’s lead sponsor. Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec started its first of three phases in January. The Ivey teams successfully completed the first two phases: the elevator pitch and the strategy document.

The top 10 teams will deliver presentations to a judging panel in downtown Toronto on Tuesday, March 31, and from there, one team will be declared the winner.

Best of luck to both teams!
