Ivey students take on a business twist for annual LemonAid fundraiser

Apr 10, 2015

LemonAid

LONDON, ON, April 10, 2015 – Ivey students will tackle a business problem, while also raising money for a good cause, for the annual Hunter Straker and Ivey Give LemonAid fundraiser April 15-17.

The fundraising challenge is the final event of the HBA1s’ Learning Through Action program. Students use the business and leadership skills learned in class to sell lemonade throughout London and area, while overcoming a challenge created by executives at Hunter Straker. Proceeds go to the United Way’s Matched Education Savings Fund.

Last year, Ivey students raised $81,930 to create job opportunities for youth in London and Middlesex, bringing their four-year total raised for the United Way to more than $250,000.

Approximately 600 students will be divided into 80 teams and given supplies and a unique twist for their groups on April 15. Then, armed with only $50 in seed money, a cardboard lemonade stand they will make themselves, a pitcher, and a set of markers, the students will fan across London to raise as much money as possible in only 48 hours.
