With Spring Training underway, the Toronto Blue Jays are gearing up for another run at a championship.

Now is a good time to take a look at how the Blue Jays came into existence. It’s a memorable story, and Don McDougall, MBA ’61, who was the president of the Labatt Brewing Company between 1974 and 1979, was one of the key players.

What started out as an effort to boost marketing for Labatt, turned into the only MLB team in Canada.

“You don’t know when you start down these roads where they may lead when you’re open to opportunity and you pursue them aggressively,” said McDougall. “There’s unintended consequences both ways though, some wins and some losses.”
