In the spring issue of Western University's Alumni Gazette, Ivey alumna Janet Bannister, HBA ’92, is profiled for her work on founding Kijiji Canada and making the transition to her current job: general partner at Real Ventures.
Bannister founded Kijiji Canada, which has become the largest and most visited classified site in the country, and later led Kijiji Global. At the height of her success with the company, she walked away.
“I realized I wanted to be there for my son. I thought, ‘Ugh I’m missing out.’”
Every decision Bannister has made in her successful career – from leaving Kijiji to starting her own consulting business – has led her to where she is now: overseeing 10 start-up companies as a general partner at Real Ventures, a venture capital firm.
“I see myself doing this as long as I’m working. I can’t imagine doing anything else. It just really makes me happy. I feel as though I have found my true passion."
