Although people are torn on whether artificial intelligence is a threat or an opportunity, they do agree on one thing: automated systems and artificial intelligence machines are inevitable.

For the Donald L. Triggs Lecture in International Business in Toronto on Feb. 15, Idris Mootee, CEO and co-founder of Idea Couture, a global strategic innovation firm, discussed the opportunities for doing business in a world with artificial intelligence (AI).

At the event called The human and machines partnership and the next arms race for global industry leadership, Mootee said, compared to other technologies, AI has long-term implications and immediate benefits.

“The impact is real, but we don’t need to be scared. I think it will add a lot of value in terms of economic development if we do it right,” he said. “I think it can actually help to create a better lifestyle so that we can work less and have more time to explore what we like without any kind of economic implications.”
