With a full classroom of 156 students and women making up 43 per cent of the cohort – the highest proportion in the program’s history – Ivey’s MBA Class of 2027 arrives today ready to lead.
The cohort represents 25 birth countries and 41 industries, reflecting a dynamic mix of perspectives and professional experience. Students come from sectors spanning finance and consulting to technology, health care, and consumer goods.
“I’m excited to welcome Ivey’s incoming MBA class. You bring an impressive range of experiences and perspectives, and a shared drive to lead with purpose and create meaningful impact,” said Mary Weil, MBA Faculty Director, as she greeted the class at a welcome event. “You’re starting this journey at a pivotal moment for business and society. Over the months ahead, you’ll stretch your thinking, sharpen your judgment, and define the kind of leader you want to be. I can’t wait to see you support one another, build lifelong connections, and challenge yourselves to grow – both as individuals and together as a class.”
A global perspective
The cohort’s global perspective is easy to see. Members of the class have lived in as many as five countries, studied in places such as Singapore and France, and travelled to every continent except Antarctica. One student has visited every province and territory in Canada; another has set a goal to reach 50 countries by 2028. Many are multilingual, speaking as many as five languages.
Driven to compete and explore
This is also a class that doesn’t shy away from a challenge. Among the students are marathoners and triathletes, including a top-30 per cent finisher at the 2025 Chicago Marathon, a competitive swimmer ranked seventh in Ontario, and a student who has ski raced for nearly 20 years. One member coached Team Canada to bronze at the Walking Soccer World Cup, and another completed a triathlon in Los Angeles.
Others are adventurers who have summited Mount Fuji’s volcanic crater and Stok Kangri at more than 20,000 feet, sailed across the North Atlantic Ocean, hiked Guatemala’s Acatenango, and jumped from a 40-foot cliff in Hawaii.
Creative, curious, and committed to growth
The Class of 2027 is also rich in creative talent – whether playing instruments, singing and composing, writing and directing short films, or publishing blog posts.
Some have taken centre stage in other ways: as a former Disney cast member, a Toronto Raptors playoff commercial participant, and even as a ball girl at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Together, they bring impressive achievements and a shared ambition to grow as leaders. Over the coming year, they will test their thinking in the case method classroom, learn from one another’s diverse perspectives, and shape the kind of impact they want to make in business and beyond.
