The John F. Wood Summer Leadership Program (SLP) is a transformative, multi-day, overnight experience designed for high school students in Grades 9, 10, and 11 who are eager to develop leadership skills, explore innovative ideas, and experience life at Ivey Business School and Western University. The program focuses on building critical thinking, collaboration, and entrepreneurial skills through hands-on activities, case-based discussions, and team challenges.
SLP was established to address the growing need for adaptable and collaborative leaders in a rapidly changing world. Business plays a pivotal role in shaping communities, driving innovation, and creating meaningful change. This program aims to equip young leaders with the mindset and skills necessary to tackle complex challenges in areas such as sustainability, technology, and the future of work.
Through interactive learning, campus life immersion, and a capstone project developed in partnership with the Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, SLP provides students with a unique opportunity to prepare for future leadership roles while fostering creativity and teamwork.
Students will be staying in Ontario Hall, a residence building at Western University, just a 8-minute walk from the Ivey Business School. To learn more about Ontario Hall and to see a tour of the building, click here.
The $450 participant fee (taxes included) is an all-inclusive cost that covers accommodations, meals, programming, and all necessary supplies for the duration of the program.
Please note, the participant fee does not cover travel expenses such as flights, buses, etc.
FAQs about Arrival, Departure and Logistics of the SLP
- Drop-off: Monday, August 3rd, between 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Ontario Hall.
- Pick-up: Friday, August 7th between 3:00 - 5:00 PM from Ontario Hall.
Parking is available outside Ontario Hall but anyone who plans to park their car overnight for the duration of the program, must email hba@ivey.ca to arrange for a parking pass.
FAQs about living arrangements during SLP
Each attendee will have their own individual room with a shared bathroom between two people. Rooms and bathrooms have locks for safety. Students will be paired based on gender identity and grade level.
Please note: SLP will be a completely peanut-free program to ensure the safety of all participants. This will be strongly enforced.

Comfortable clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, jeans and everyday wear is fine for daytime activities. Please keep in mind that this is a professional educational setting, and we encourage you to dress in a way that reflects the environment.

For the final day, when students will present their capstone projects to faculty and alumni, a business-casual or business formal outfit is required.

Yes! Meals and snacks will be provided:
- Monday, August 3rd: Dinner and snacks will be provided.
- Tuesday, August 4th - Thursday, August 6th: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks will be provided.
- Friday, August 8th: Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.
If attendees have dietary restrictions or allergies, please note them in the consent forms.
All relevant medical concerns should be mentioned in your consent forms, which are provided on the SLP Participant Website.

Yes! There is a mandatory virtual Meet & Greet being hosted on July 23rd at 7pm (EST). We will review expectations for the program, answer any questions you have, and allow you to meet everyone in the 2026 SLP cohort.
Parents/guardians are welcome to attend as well! We will record the portion of the session that covers important information and post it on the SLP Participant Website so you can refer back to it.
