Despite the growing relevance of Africa for IB teaching, a very limited overall quantity of relevant Africa-Related content is obtainable, and zero content exists about some countries.
This article has been influenced by an important body of work which has emerged on research about Africa. This body of work lays out the various compelling reasons why scholars should place greater attention on Africa.
The focus is on what we teach about Africa, so is targeted at educators. It is intended to raise awareness of the growing relevance of Africa for international business (IB) teaching, and the limited quantity of current, Africa-related IB content. Most of the article provides specific recommendations which address these issues.
This article focuses on Africa only, which includes 37 ( 80% ) of the 46 eligible countries within the 39 Country Initiative. The methodology applied can be used to consider the lack of practitioner-oriented and/or pedagogy-oriented content available about the other 9 countries within the 39 Country Initiative.
