"A Trip on Behalf of the 39 Country Initiative sponsored by the Ivey Business School!
On November 15, 2025 I left Calgary after a business trip and flew to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan arriving on November 17th. On November 22, I flew to Kazakhstan and overnighted there before flying to Dushanbe, Tajikistan on November 23! I left Dushanbe on November 27 and arrived home in Newfoundland, Canada early morning on November 28!
You might ask why was I in Central Asia visiting three different countries in 10 days? I was invited by my colleague Professor Paul Beamish Founder and Director of the 39CI to visit universities in Bishkek and Dushanbe to make presentations on IVEY’s Case Methodology and to encourage their business faculty to access cases from Ivey Publishing. I was well received by faculty at Bishkek State University, Kyrgyr National University, and American University of Central Asia in Bishkek and by faculty at Tajik State University of Commerce in Dushanbe.
One of the very interesting aspects of the trip was having three of the four presentations translated into Russian. I had to change the tempo of my presentation but it was a fun experience!
The topic of my presentation was Why I Taught with, and Write, Cases?"
