Cara Maurer

Born and raised near Munich, Germany, Cara Mauer moved to Canada in 1991. She earned an HBA, MBA, and PhD in General Management/Strategy from Western University. Cara then worked in telecommunication sales and strategy consulting before joining Ivey’s faculty in 2009.

In addition to teaching in The Ivey Academy’s executive education programs, Cara teaches Strategic Analysis and Action and Leading Change in Ivey’s HBA degree program. She has published cases about national and international organizations, including L’Oreal S.A., London Health Sciences Centre, TD Bank Financial Group, Barrick Gold Corporation, and Whole Foods Market Inc. She is passionate about teaching using the case method, which she believes is the most effective learning tool for real-world strategic decision making under uncertainty. Cara is the David G. Burgoyne HBA teaching award for outstanding commitment to student development in 2014.
