Tony Frost is Associate Professor of Strategy and Global Business at the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University. He completed his Ph.D. at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UBC. His doctoral thesis received the Gunnar Hedlund Award, a global competition for the best doctoral dissertation in international business.

Dr. Frost has been a member of the Ivey faculty since 1996 and was the director of the school’s MBA program in 2007-8. His research interests revolve around strategy and competition in a global context. Work from this stream has been published in leading journals such as Harvard Business Review, Strategic Management Journal and the Journal of International Business Studies. He is a past member of the Editorial Review Board for Journal of International Business Studies.

Professor Frost’s teaching lies at the intersection of strategy and the global environment of business, where his focus is on helping students and practitioners understand the strategic implications of major external forces such as disruptive technologies, globalization and trade, the macro cycle, and public policy developments.

Professor Frost is one of the most decorated teachers in the history of the Ivey Business School. He has been selected as the recipient of the Lawrence G. Tapp MBA Award for Teaching Excellence by his students a school record eight times. He is also a six-time winner of the Carol Stephenson Excellence in EMBA Teaching Award. Professor Frost has also been the recipient of the Ivey Teaching Innovation Award for innovative curriculum design and the David G. Burgoyne Award for Outstanding Commitment to Student Development. Dr. Frost initiated and led Ivey’s highly successful China study trip for MBAs and is a past board member for Ivey’s LEADER project, an initiative that sends Ivey students abroad to educate and consult with young entrepreneurs. In 2023, he was selected as the recipient of the Alumni Faculty Service Award, which he received during the school’s 100th year homecoming celebration.

Over the last decade, Professor Frost has led a number of major Ivey Executive Education programs under the auspices of the Ivey Academy (North America) and Ivey Asia . His work in this space focuses on designing and delivering programs for corporate clients in Canada and globally. His client list encompasses Canadian and international firms in a wide range of industries from insurance and financial services to utilities, energy, construction, building materials, food, aerospace and tech.
