Cameron McAlpine is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Ivey Business School, where he teaches negotiations, leadership, and team dynamics. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Ivey and master’s degrees from Georgetown and Western Universities. As a teacher, coach, and facilitator, he combines academic insight with more than 20 years of professional experience to help senior leaders navigate today’s complex challenges.

Cameron began his career in Washington, DC, supporting organizations in shaping public policy and building coalitions. He later worked with organizations such as Heart & Stroke, Metro, Habitat for Humanity, and the David Suzuki Foundation, advancing strategic communications and advocacy initiatives. In recent years, he has advised one of Canada’s largest healthcare associations, supporting negotiation strategy and organizational effectiveness. He has also advised and served on several boards, including the North York Women’s Shelter.

Executive education has been a longstanding passion for Cameron. Before joining Ivey, he helped healthcare trade associations develop continuing education programs. He has since been retained to deliver custom executive programs across Canada and internationally for organizations including Samsung, the Canadian Chiropractic Association, and the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. He has also delivered programs in the agriculture and financial services sectors. Through his coaching practice, Cameron works with C-suite, executive, and board leaders to advance their professional development goals. He recently received Ivey’s David G. Burgoyne Teaching Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching.

Cameron’s research focusses on how organizations and individuals negotiate. His dissertation examined how American telecommunications organizations negotiation rules of organizational behaviour. That research was supported by a prestigious Doctoral Award from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. He is currently working on research projects examining decision making, organizational candour and interpersonal negotiations.
