The ESG Series: Standardized ESG Reporting and Disclosure: Implications for Canadian Business

Ivey Business School presents Impact Live The ESG Series

In the evolving landscape of global business, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors are becoming increasingly influential, and for some, controversial. To equip Canadian leaders with the knowledge and strategies necessary to navigate this dynamic terrain, Ivey is proud to host a series of virtual Impact Live events addressing the key considerations of ESG. The second event in the series looks at the impact of standardized reporting frameworks.

The lack of comparable data has been a key barrier to assessing the sustainability performance of firms, especially for investment decision-making. The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) was established to unify existing reporting and disclosure frameworks, with the goal of enabling standardized decision-relevant information for investors. The ISSB has now published its first two disclosure standards for climate and sustainability, which came into effect in January 2024. The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) has now proposed draft Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards (CSDS) that align with the global ISSB standards but with modifications to serve the Canadian public interest.

At the second livestream event in the Impact Live ESG Series, a panel of experts will explore these significant advancements and discuss the potential impact of these standardized reporting frameworks on financial markets and individual businesses.
