Canadian Olympic athletes share secrets to their success at Ivey leadership event

Oct 21, 2014

Tessa&Scott

LONDON, ON, October 21, 2014 – As two of Canada’s most decorated figure skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir needed leadership skills both on and off the ice.

Performing together at such an elite level required team work as well as the ability to deal with conflict, obstacles, and disappointment.

Virtue and Moir will discuss the lessons they have learned both personally and professionally at the Troost Annual Leadership Event at Ivey on October 27.

In their presentation, “Dreaming Big, Working Together and Overcoming Obstacles,” they will also share with Ivey’s HBA students insights on the role of communication in sports and what lessons can be applied to business.

During their 17-year partnership, they have built an impressive figure skating résumé including capturing a gold medal at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, a silver medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and many national and international titles.

The event is made possible by a generous donation from Kathleen and Bill Troost, MBA ’75, and is presented by Ivey’s Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership.
