Ivey PMI rises to 3-month high in January

Monthly Comment Professor Michiel R. Leenders, Director of the Ivey Purchasing Managers Index

The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (seasonally adjusted) by the end of January 2014 stood at 56.8.   The corresponding figure for January 2013 was 58.9 and for January 2012 was 64.1.

The Employment index (seasonally adjusted) for January stood at 45.1.  Inventories (seasonally adjusted) 48.4, Supplier Deliveries (seasonally adjusted) were 51.6 and Prices were 65.2.

The Ivey PMI unadjusted data for the month of January is 53.6, Employment 40.9, Inventories 47.7, Supplier Deliveries 48.1 and Prices 66.7

The Ivey Purchasing Managers Index shows responses to one question: "Were your purchases last month in dollars higher, the same, or lower than the previous month?"

A figure above 50 shows an increase while below 50 shows a decrease.
