The secret to extraordinary impact – a partnership between business and NGO
LONDON, ON, June 2, 2014 – The WWF Living Planet @Work Championed by HP program, which offers hands-on help to anyone interested in championing more sustainable business practices and encouraging employee giving to world-changing conservation projects, demonstrates the power of partnerships between businesses and NGOs. This partnership, conceived over four year ago, exceeded expectations, engaging hundreds of companies and raising over half a million dollars for WWF-Canada’s conservation efforts through workplace giving initiatives.
The program is a perfect example of the good that can come from collaborative partnerships. But such success isn’t always easy.
At an upcoming Ivey Idea Forum called Partnering for Sustainability: The Secret to Extraordinary Impact, Ivey Associate Professor Oana Branzei and Network for Business Sustainability (NBS) researcher Barbara Gray will address how businesses and not-for-profit organizations can pursue partnerships to address complex challenges and why some partnerships fail. They’ll also discuss best practices for creating winning collaborations. The event will also feature insights from Living Planet @Work’s two key champions, HP’s Frances Edmonds and the WWF’s Adrienne Lo, on how they mastered their partnership.
The presentation is part of the Ivey Idea Forum: Leading Insights for Business Innovation series, which provides executives, Ivey alumni, business students and prospective students with guest speakers and events to explore new ideas, perspectives and solutions for evolving business issues. It is based on the NBS Executive Report Sustainability through Partnerships, which provides guidance on how to select the right partner and manage the partnership process
