Sharon Castelino

Sharon Castelino, EMBA ’12, LL.M., ICD.D is a corporate director, senior executive and governance educator who brings real-world boardroom and executive experience to the classroom.

As Program Director for the Ivey Governance Intensive: AI, Technology & the Board, Sharon helps directors and senior leaders translate rapidly evolving technology issues into effective board oversight - asking better questions, obtaining decision-useful information, constructively challenging management, and making sound decisions amid uncertainty.

Sharon brings more than 30 years of experience across financial services, capital markets, private equity, private markets, real estate and technology, including more than 20 years of board and governance experience in public, private and nonprofit organizations. She serves on the City of Toronto Investment Board and the Ivey Alumni Network Board, and has served on the boards of three private AI and technology companies, and as Lead Director of Move Health, a national health and wellness organization.

Her approach to AI and technology governance is pragmatic and grounded in boardroom realities. She focuses not simply on the technology itself, but on the strategic, risk and organizational decisions directors must oversee, including cyber and data risk, responsible AI, third-party dependencies, operational resilience, management capability and accountability. Her teaching emphasizes the conditions that enable effective governance: decision-useful information, clear accountabilities, productive board–management relationships, and rigorous, constructive challenge.

In September 2026, Sharon became Chief Executive Officer of Windmill Microlending, a national charity that supports skilled immigrants and refugees as they rebuild their careers in Canada. The role builds on her executive experience in regulated financial services and inclusive-finance innovation.

Sharon holds an MBA with Distinction from Ivey Business School, a Master of Laws (Business) from Osgoode Hall Law School, the ICD.D designation, and the Partners, Directors and Officers certificate from the Canadian Securities Institute.  She resides in Toronto.
