Unlike previous years, students were presented with a ‘live’ case in the final round of the competition. The live case asked students to develop creative solutions to fund-raise for London Health Sciences Foundation. It integrated changes to the situation ‘as-they-happen’ as students work towards potential solutions, contributing further to the real-world feel of the experience.

Innovation, teamwork and healthy competition are all inherent parts of an Ivey education.  The McKinsey Case Competition brings all three of these elements together for three days of fast-work and tight deadlines. Teams presented their solutions to an auditorium filled with peers, professors, Ivey alumni, and McKinsey representatives, followed by a series of challenging questions from the audience. Twenty-two teams, comprised of 129 Ivey MBA students, participated in the competition.

After three full days of preparation and presentation, it was Team Five who captivated judges and earned first place, featuring Dennis Chow, Dominik Lieskovsky, Priyanka Mallick, Eeshan Paranjape, Vaishnavi Ravi, Tom Robertson and Vivek Sankaralingam.

Runners up were Team 17 (Elysha Altberg, Shantanu Gite, Christopher Jackson, Kathryn McIntosh, Jiwanjot Singh, Prernna Varma) and Team 19 (Eric Grundy, Andrew Lee, Corey McNair, Hem Shankar, Jake Smith).

“The competition was a phenomenal learning experience,” said Eeshan Paranjape. “It was a privilege to have the opportunity to assist a real client.”

“We only hope that our recommendations will give London Health Sciences some tangible take-aways to assist in their fundraising efforts,” teammate Tom Robertson added.
