Ivey faculty recognized as bestselling case authors

Four Ivey case authors made The Case Centre's Top 50 Bestselling Case Authors list for the 2020/21 academic year.

The annual list recognizes cases that sell the most copies during the previous academic year. This year's authors represent 19 schools, from nine countries, across three continents. Here’s a look at the Ivey authors on the list:

No. 35

Elizabeth Grasby – Professor Emeritus Elizabeth Grasby had a 39-year career at Ivey before retiring in 2017 and held the position of Pre-Business Program Director for almost 25 years. She also served as the Assistant Director of Ivey’s China Project from 1987-1989. Grasby is a big believer in the case method, first writing Management Science cases at Ivey following and then introducing case writing and teaching to the Occupational and Physical Therapy Faculty. Her top three bestselling cases during the last year include Healthy Life Group (with Ian Dunn), Proof Designs, and Sugar and Spice Bakery: The Catering Opportunity.

Ian Dunn, HBA ’07, MBA ’15 – Lecturer Ian Dunn is the Co-Director of Ivey’s Business Foundations department and teaches introductory business topics, such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, finance, marketing and strategy. He has also played an integral role in Ivey’s efforts to introduce the case study method to secondary school business students. His case writing focuses on financial and managerial accounting topics. His top three bestselling cases during the last year include Healthy Life Group (with Elizabeth Grasby), Northwest Fitness: An Expansion Opportunity, and The Academy: Evaluating Growth Alternatives.

Jim Hatch – Professor Emeritus Jim Hatch has written more than 170 cases and technical notes, and is the co-author of several case books. Most recently, he has written on the utilization of the case method in China and co-authored two books on the subject. He is interested in business education within a Chinese context. His top three bestselling cases during the last year include Industrial Accessories Ltd., Health Care Manufacturing Inc., and Valuing Wal-Mart 2010.

Fraser Johnson, HBA '82, MBA '92, PhD '95 – Professor Fraser Johnson is the Leenders Supply Chain Management Association Chair at Ivey and Director of the Ivey Purchasing Managers Index, one of the most widely watched and utilized indicators of future economic activity in Canada. He has authored many cases and journal articles and won The Case Centre Production and Operations Management category award for his case Apple Inc.: Managing a Global Supply Chain. His top three bestselling cases during the last year include Apple Inc.: Global Supply Chain Management, Apple Inc.: Managing a Global Supply Chain, and Metropolitan College.
