HBA student reflects on leading in a diverse workplace

Annika Lui, HBA '18 candidate and Co-Director of student club Ally@Ivey, has a goal to prepare Ivey students to be leaders and allies in the diverse 21st-century workplace.

In a blog written for the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership, Lui reflects on one Ivey course that has stood out to her: Giving Voice to Leadership. She acknowledges that technical skills are crucial for success, but soft leadership skills are just as important. The course equips students with the tools needed to deal with difficult situations, such as whistleblowing, discrimination, quality decisions, and international expansion into violent and corrupt nations.

"Giving Voice to Leadership is not your everyday ethics class that aims to distinguish right from wrong," Lui writes. "Giving Voice to Leadership focuses on how to individually script strategic communications and create thoughtful action plans when facing values-driven conflicts."
