What must Canada build, what must Canada control, and how must Canada govern to secure Canada’s digital future?
Canada has strong digital foundations, but emerging technologies like AI, quantum, and cybersecurity are driving much greater demands on infrastructure, trust, and execution. The key challenge is to build for continuous investment, trusted adoption, strategic autonomy, and national-scale delivery, since digital infrastructure is never truly finished.
Join us on Wednesday, December 2 at the New Ivey Donald K. Johnson Centre in downtown Toronto as we examine how Canada can translate the Carney government's capital-first, nation-building agenda into a practical digital strategy.
Topics to be explored:
- What digital infrastructure will Canada need over the next decade as AI, quantum, health, defence, robotics, and immersive technologies scale?
- How should spectrum policy evolve if wireless networks are core national infrastructure?
- How can Canada mobilize capital for resilient, rural, Indigenous, and future-ready infrastructure?
- Which digital systems, workloads, and capabilities require Canadian operational control?
- How can Canada pursue sovereign AI and trusted cloud without cutting itself off from frontier capability or global markets?
- What role should procurement play in building trusted, Canadian-controlled infrastructure?
- How can Canada govern as a digital middle power: strategic enough to protect national capability, but open enough to benefit from global innovation and trusted partners?
- How can procurement and regulation become tools for investment, adoption, trust, and Canadian capability?
