Travelling to the summer leadership program (SLP)
The Summer Leadership Program will take place from Monday, August 3 to Friday, August 7 at Western University in London, Ontario.
Students will stay in Ontario Hall throughout the program, while the majority of program activities will take place at the Ivey Business School.
All students must check in at Ontario Hall upon arrival.
Program Arrival & Departure
The program officially begins on Monday, August 3 at 3:00 p.m. Students will not be permitted to check in or access program facilities before this time, as our team requires the day to complete final preparations and ensure everything is ready for a successful program experience.
The program concludes on Friday, August 7 at 3:00 p.m. Students may check out of Ontario Hall between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., and all participants must vacate the residence by 5:00 p.m.
Families are encouraged to make travel arrangements that align with these program times. Students arriving before the program begins or departing after the check-out window will need to make their own accommodation arrangements, as program staff are unable to provide supervision outside of official program dates and times.
Students under the age of 18 should note that most hotels require an adult to complete the check-in process. Families should consider this when planning travel.
Getting to London
We are excited to welcome students from across Canada and around the world. The following transportation options are commonly used by SLP participants travelling to London.
Arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
Toronto Pearson is the primary airport for many domestic and international travellers.
Students can travel from Pearson to London using:
- Robert Q Airbus, which offers scheduled shuttle service between Toronto Pearson and London.
- OnexBus, which provides direct service from Pearson to Western University's campus.
We recommend booking transportation in advance.
Arriving at London International Airport (YXU)
London International Airport is approximately 15 minutes from Western University.
Students can travel to Ontario Hall using Uber or a local taxi service such as Checker Limousine.
Transportation Within London
Once in London, students may use Uber, Checker Limousine, or the London Transit Commission (LTC). The LTC provides public bus service throughout the city, including routes to Western University. Students may also wish to download the LTC app for real-time schedules and route planning.

The entrance to Ontario Hall is located off Western Road. Upon arrival, please follow SLP signage to the designated check-in area.

Your Residence Room
Each student will have their own private bedroom and will share a washroom with one other participant.
Rooms include:
- a Twin XL bed with linens and pillow
- desk and chair
- wardrobe with shelving
- drawer unit
- mirror
- desk lamp
- corkboard
- wastebasket and recycling bin
- curtains and overhead lighting
The shared washroom includes towels and a bar of soap.
Approximate room sizes are:
- Single Room: 4.5 m × 2.5 m (15' × 8')
- Double Room: 4.5 m × 3.65 m (15' × 12')
Residence Amenities
Ontario Hall includes complimentary Wi-Fi, laundry facilities (available for a small fee through the residence laundry app), and an on-site fitness room that students may access using their residence keycard.
Bed linens, towels, blankets, face cloths, wash cloths, and basic hand soap are provided.
Students should bring their own personal toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and any other personal care items. Hair dryers are not provided.
To ensure a comfortable environment for everyone, Ontario Hall observes a quiet hours policy beginning at 10:00 p.m. each evening.
Parking
Families are encouraged to drop students off directly at Ontario Hall.
Students who are driving themselves and plan to leave a vehicle on campus overnight will receive a HonkMobile parking code during check-in. Overnight parking is available in the Ontario/Althouse Parking Lots, located behind Ontario Hall.

Hotel Accommodations
Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre
For students who must arrive in London on August 2 because of travel constraints, we have arranged a special accommodation option at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre.
As students under 18 are normally unable to check into hotels independently, Spencer has agreed to accommodate SLP participants under the following conditions:
- A parent or guardian must complete the hotel reservation.
- A consent form must be completed and provided to the hotel.
- Families should email hba@ivey.ca after making their reservation to receive the required consent form.
Please note that SLP staff are not available to supervise students prior to program check-in, even if they are staying at the Spencer Hotel.
Student Safety & Supervision
For the safety of all participants, students are expected to remain on campus for the duration of the Summer Leadership Program.
Students are not permitted to leave campus to meet family members or friends, nor may they be picked up before the official conclusion of the program. Student pick-up is only permitted on Friday, August 7 between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
