Donald Campbell

Donald Campbell is Senior Strategy Advisor to the Canadian national law firm DLA Piper Canada LLP, Co-Chair of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) and Chair of the Canadian Committee of PECC, and a Distinguished Fellow of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. He was formerly Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Personal Representative for G8 Summits (1997-2000), and Deputy Minister of International Trade (1989-1993) in the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. In his career in the Canadian foreign service, Mr. Campbell held posts as Canada’s Ambassador to Japan (1993-1997); Assistant Deputy Minister (United States) (1985-1989); and Canada’s Ambassador to South Korea (1984-1985). Earlier diplomatic postings included Kenya, the United Kingdom, Jamaica and the United States. Mr Campbell entered the private sector as Group President of CAE, a Canadian high technology company, from 2000-2007.
