Developed by the Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management at Ivey Business School, in collaboration with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and the City of London, Where Trade Is Felt examines how Canadian municipalities are experiencing and responding to trade-related pressures.
Drawing on responses from 31 municipalities across nine provinces, the report provides a snapshot of local conditions reported in May 2026 and explores how trade disruption is affecting communities with different economic and industrial profiles.
The report also looks at how municipalities are responding on the ground — from supporting local businesses and adapting procurement approaches to strengthening investment attraction, diversification and coordination — and considers how local intelligence can contribute to Canada’s broader economic response.
