For Ivey’s Class of 2023, convocation ceremonies are a once-in-a-century celebration. The day marks not only the graduates’ proud accomplishments, but also Ivey’s 100th anniversary as a degree-granting institution.
And while the graduates are certainly well-positioned to carry on Ivey’s rich tradition of real-world leadership and join the Ivey Alumni Network, they also show how much the School has evolved. A case in point: Back in 1923, there were a mere six graduates, but now more than 970 Ivey graduates crossed the stage to receive their diplomas at two separate ceremonies.
Festivities began with a celebration of 616 HBA graduates at Western University’s Alumni Hall. They were joined by Darryl White, HBA ’94, Chief Executive Officer of BMO Financial Group, who received an honorary degree at the ceremony. Later the graduates performed the Ivey Pledge Ceremony where they received the Ivey Ring.
Approximately 357 graduates – 133 MBAs, 59 EMBAs, 163 MScs, one MM in Analytics (graduating off cycle), and one PhD also crossed the stage together. The event recognized Andy Chisholm, MBA ’85, a corporate director and Chair of the Ivey Advisory Board, with an honorary degree.
