MOI Team Departs Kenya

As our trip to Eldoret and MOI University comes to a close, it seems as though the whole city has become our close friend. Everyone from the students to the faculty, to the cafeteria workers and mall workers, to the people at the movie theatre nearby and restaurants had fully accepted us as one of their own. This had become more than just a trip to teach business decision making, this had become a lifelong experience.

During this trip, we had decided to do something that is on many people’s bucket lists; seeing a real safari in Africa! Kenya is home to many beautiful safaris, so deciding which one we want to go to was actually very difficult. After consulting with many locals, we decided to visit Lake Nakuru National Park. This safari promised a wide variety of animal sightings, as well as flamingos with pink-tipped feathers. The long journey there was definitely worth the trip. What really impacted us was the realization that this was not a manmade attraction; none of the animals were flown in to create an artificial environment. Instead, we were being driven through the actual habitat of wild animals that we see on TV. Truly, it was a different kind of beauty.

All of the people we got to meet, all of the beauty we got to see, and all of the events we got to witness makes saying goodbye all that difficult. As we depart MOI University and Eldoret, Kenya, we promised that this is not goodbye forever. It is too amazing of a place to not revisit again. Next time, visiting Mombasa is a must, especially after seeing the beautiful sand beaches and views we did not get to see. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone that was a part of our journey on the Africa Service Learning Trip!
