A new chapter of leadership

2024 was a year of renewed energy and direction at Ivey, led by new Dean Julian Birkinshaw, MBA ’91, PhD ’95. With a focus on thought leadership, innovation, and global impact, Birkinshaw brought bold ideas and deep connections to his new role.

From launching Impact and the Ivey Impact Podcast to showcase thought leadership, to opening the Ronald D. Schmeichel Building for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, 2024 was a year of bold steps. Ivey also celebrated a top-30 global research ranking and welcomed the largest student body in the School’s history, setting the stage for its next era.

Here’s a glance at our impact in 2024.

Our HBA Program attracts the best and brightest students who bring diverse academic and leadership experiences to the program. With the Ivey Leadership Essentials that sets them apart in their careers and the 2+2 Program Structure that allows students to explore their academic interests, they have unlimited opportunities for success.

Our MSc Program builds on undergraduate experiences through three unique fields – an International Business field to build cross-cultural aptitude for leading in an international environment, a Business Analytics field focused on developing data-driven business decision-making skills, and the Digital Management field that trains leaders to understand the role of technology in contemporary management.

Our 12-month Master of Management in Analytics (MM-A) combines advanced analytics training with essential business and leadership skills, preparing working professionals to manage high-performing teams and shape the future of business.

Our streamlined one-year MBA offers an intense and integrated program focused on career success. That’s why it is known as the #1 MBA program in Canada for nine years running*.

Our 14-month, while-you-work, blended learning Accelerated MBA (AMBA) prepares working professionals for the next stage of their career.

Our EMBA Program attracts highly successful and experienced leaders across industries and professional backgrounds. In 2024, the EMBA continued to provide real-world business experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

Our PhD Program in Business Administration is a full-time research-based program designed to develop scholars and to place graduates at high quality research universities around the world. Ivey PhDs are showcased at conferences around the world, and regularly featured in top-tier academic and industry publications.

Located at Spencer Leadership Centre, The Ivey Academy offers a complete suite of programs to boost organizational performance.

Our faculty members continue to make their mark in research, the classroom, and the boardroom. They are a major influence on the development of future leaders and in the creation of new knowledge.

Our alumni continue to give back as mentors, advisors, employers, and champions of Ivey. The Ivey Alumni Network (IAN) is a vibrant global community that helps alumni connect, engage, contribute, and grow – deepening their ties to Ivey and supporting the School.

In 2024, momentum grew. Our Alumni Communities expanded to 11+ interest groups, connecting alumni through industries, identities, and passions. We also launched the Ivey Alumni Hub, a digital space with an Alumni Directory, discussion groups, curated news, events, and direct messaging tools.

The IAN Board introduced the Emerging Leader Award as part of the Ivey Alumni Achievement Awards to recognize recent grads tackling global challenges early in their careers.

With the arrival of Ivey’s new Dean in August 2024, alumni reconnected at “Meet the Dean” events in 12 cities in Canada and around the world.
