Climate change is fundamentally an economic problem, one deeply connected with global energy systems. The Economics of Climate Change, a new course offered to Ivey's MBA Direct students, explored the economic, environmental and social dimensions of one of the most pressing issues facing societies, governments and businesses.
As part of this course, students were required to formulate a long-run energy outlook for the Province of Ontario and assess how this outlook influenced the business strategy of Ontario Power Generation, the largest generator of electricity in the province. To cap off the project, students had the opportunity to present their vision and strategies to executives at Ontario Power Generation.
