The MM-A goes beyond technical analytics and data science. The program focuses on connecting analytics with business strategy, decision-making and leadership. Students learn how to use analytical insights to address real-world business challenges and communicate those insights effectively.
The MM-A is an analytics management program with AI woven throughout. Rather than training you in specific AI tools, it builds the skills to lead with AI: knowing where it fits, how to apply it, and how to make sound decisions with it. Those skills stay valuable as the technology evolves.
AI and machine learning are an important part of the Ivey MM-A curriculum. Students develop hands-on experience with machine learning and predictive modelling, while learning how to evaluate and apply these technologies to real-world business challenges.
Dedicated courses in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Managers explore topics including predictive models, neural networks, large language models, chatbots, unstructured data and algorithmic bias. Students also develop the business and leadership skills needed to understand when and how AI can create value for an organization.
The goal is to prepare graduates to work effectively with AI, critically evaluate its outputs and lead data-driven decision-making in an increasingly AI-driven business environment.
Yes. The MM-A is specifically designed for working professionals. Students remain employed while completing the program, with a blend of online learning and in-person experiences scheduled throughout the year.
The program combines different learning formats, including live online sessions, independent/asynchronous learning and in-person experiences. The format is designed to provide flexibility while maintaining the collaborative and interactive learning experience that is central to Ivey. Students participate in required in-person learning experiences throughout the program, including an intensive residency at the beginning of the program. These experiences are an important part of the Ivey learning model and provide opportunities for case discussions, networking and collaboration with classmates, faculty and alumni.
The MM-A is a rigorous graduate program and requires a significant time commitment alongside full-time employment. Students should be prepared to dedicate approximately 25–30 hours per week to classes, preparation, assignments and group work. Some weeks will be lighter or heavier depending on the course and deadlines.
The MM-A is demanding, but it is designed specifically for working professionals. Successful students plan ahead, communicate with their employers and support networks, manage their time carefully and make use of the resources available through the program. Connecting with classmates is also an important part of navigating the experience.
Admissions
The MM-A is designed for early- to mid-career professionals who are ready to build on their professional experience and take their careers to the next level.
Applicants must have 2–15 years of full-time work experience after completing their undergraduate degree. We look for candidates who can bring meaningful professional experience and perspectives to our collaborative learning environment.
Your work experience does not need to come from one specific industry or job title. We consider a wide range of professional backgrounds, including business, finance, technology, consulting, healthcare, marketing, operations and other fields where analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making are increasingly important.
When assessing your experience, we look for evidence of professional growth, analytical thinking, problem-solving, leadership potential and the ability to connect quantitative concepts to real-world business challenges. We also consider your career goals and how the MM-A fits into your professional journey.
You do not need to already be an analytics expert. What matters is that you have the foundation, experience and motivation to apply analytics in a business context and contribute your perspective to the MM-A classroom.
Applicants should have experience with at least one programming language through university coursework, professional experience, a MOOC or another form of learning. Familiarity with Python, R or SQL is recommended, but applicants are not required to be experts in programming.
We do not have a set minimum GPA requirement for admission to the MM-A program. We consider your academic performance as part of your overall application, alongside your academic background, work experience, analytical skills, leadership experience and career goals.
We recognize that academic performance can vary depending on your program, institution and overall academic journey. We take a holistic approach to assessing each application and look for evidence that you are prepared to succeed in a rigorous, analytics-focused graduate program.
No. The Ivey MM-A does not require applicants to submit a GMAT or GRE score.
At the time of application, applicants must be living and working in Canada and have the appropriate authorization to work in Canada. If you are not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you will need to obtain the appropriate study permit before beginning the program.
Because the MM-A is designed as a while-you-work program, students are expected to maintain employment while completing their studies.
