The Ben Graham Centre for Value Investing held its 2019 International MBA Stock Picking Competition in Toronto, Ontario.
The Competition was sponsored by Burgundy Asset Management Ltd., Bristol Gate Capital Partners Inc., Foyston, Gordon & Payne Inc, Peters MacGregor Capital Management, Robotti & Company Advisors and Stacey Muirhead Capital Management.
The Competition pitted 24 teams of MBA students from schools from around the world against each other in an effort to win the $14,000 in prizes. In the first round, each team submitted a valuation report on a stock selected from a group of value stocks that were judged by a panel of experts who narrowed down the 24 contenders to 3 finalist teams; Western University (Ivey Business School); University of Toronto (Rotman School of Management); and Carnegie Mellon University (Tepper School of Business).
On April 9, 2019, the finalists made their final pitches to a panel of distinguished value investors including Mr. Wayne Peters – PetersMacGregor (Australia), Mr. Robert Robotti – Robotti & Company Advisors LLC. (United States), Ms. Kim Shannon – Sionna Investment Managers (Canada), Mr. Jeff Stacey, Stacey Muirhead Capital Management (Canada), and Mr. Evan Vanderveer – Vanshap Capital (United States).
