Create Insights that Matter

Steps we’ve taken:

  • Strengthening faculty excellence through endowed chairs.

In 2025 we announced the Abell-Hodgson Chair in Regenerative Agriculture and we expect to announce two additional new Chairs in 2026, reinforcing Ivey’s ability to attract and retain leading scholars in priority areas and advance high-impact research. Advancement continues to work actively to secure additional endowed chairs.

  • Strengthening research capacity and the talent pipeline.

We are actively planning for growth in Ivey’s PhD program, including the relaunch of the Finance PhD, to expand the pipeline of future faculty and research talent. These efforts position the School to increase capacity over time and further strengthen its ability to deliver high-impact, practice-relevant scholarship.

  • Increasing funding for research and thought leadership.

We raised $1.9 million in donor funding to support research and thought leadership activities. Additionally, faculty secured 31 external grants valued at $2.74 million further strengthening Ivey’s ability to generate insights on pressing business and societal issues.

  • Increasing external recognition of research strength.

Ivey’s FT Research Rank moved up 10 places to 48th globally in the 2026 FT MBA Ranking. Ivey also rose five spots to rank 25th globally in the 2025 Research Insights ranking, a position which owes a lot to our world-leading expertise in case writing and publishing.

  • Growing the reach and engagement of Ivey’s research.

Ivey’s Impact platform continues to amplify faculty expertise through articles, events, podcasts, and video content, with page views increasing by over 29% in the last year and a 26% increase in media share of voice among Canadian business schools. Content spans critical topics such as AI, leadership, tariffs, investing, and sustainability, positioning Ivey faculty as trusted voices on issues that matter to business leaders. Since the launch of Bold Ambition, Ivey has produced 34 articles, 15 podcast episodes, and multiple events and videos, generating strong engagement across formats—including over 40,000 annual views of Impact articles, more than 17,000 podcast views, and high participation in virtual events on topics such as AI, climate leadership, and public policy.

  • Delivering research insights through new and accessible formats.

Ivey expanded its portfolio of multimedia content to make research more accessible and engaging. This includes the continued growth of the Dialogue with the Dean podcast series, Impact Live virtual events that bring together faculty and external experts on timely topics, and the launch of Instant Impact—short-form videos that distill research into concise, shareable insights. These formats are helping Ivey reach broader audiences in more relevant and accessible ways.

  • Building a more vibrant internal research community.

Internal initiatives such as the Frontiers of Research on Generative AI symposium and the Ivey Research Series are bringing together faculty, industry experts, and leading scholars to share emerging research and practical insights. With 34 research events hosted this year and participation from external experts and practitioners, these efforts are strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, increasing the visibility of Ivey’s research, and connecting academic work more directly to practice.

  • Using research centres and institutes to extend Ivey’s reach and influence.

Ivey’s centres and institutes are convening leaders across academia, industry, and policy on critical issues such as AI, trade, and sustainability. This includes the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Leadership Institute, the Pierre L. Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, the Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management, and the Centre for Building Sustainable Value, each with significant thought leadership contributions of their own.

  • Connecting research, learning, and real-world application.

Centre-led initiatives are translating research into practice through experiential learning, partnerships, and applied programming. The John F. Wood Centre for Innovation in Business Education engaged approximately 80% of Ivey faculty and hundreds of students through innovation-focused programming, while Innovation North’s national student challenge engaged 245 students from all 10 provinces. The Energy Policy and Management Centre expanded its impact through a national summer school and policy workshops, and the Centre for Building Sustainable Value convened over 60 organizations to advance regenerative practices.
