2023 International MBA Stock Picking Competition

The Ben Graham Centre for Value Investing held its 2023 International MBA Stock Picking Competition in Toronto, Ontario, on April 18, 2023.

The Competition was sponsored by Burgundy Asset Management Ltd., Bristol Gate Capital Partners Inc., The Center for the Advancement of Value Investing Education, Peters MacGregor Capital Management, Robotti & Company Advisors and Stacey Muirhead Capital Management

The Competition pitted 14 teams of MBA students, from schools from around the world, against each other in an effort to win $14,000 in prizes. In the first round, each team submitted a valuation report on a stock selected from a group of value stocks that were judged by a panel of experts who narrowed down the 14 contenders to 3 finalist teams; Barna Management School (Dominican Republic), Gabelli Center for Global Security Analysis, Fordham University (United States) and Ivey Business School, Western University (Canada).

On April 18, 2023, the finalists made their final pitches to a panel of distinguished value investors, including, Mr. Robert Robotti - Robotti & Company Advisors LLC (United States), Mr. Wayne Peters - Peters MacGregor Capital Management (Australia), Ms. Kim Shannon - Sionna Investment Managers (Canada), Mr. Achilleas Taxildaris - Bristol Gate Capital Partners Inc. (Canada), and Mr. Evan Vanderveer - Vanshap Capital (United States).

The winners of the Ben Graham Centre's 2023 International MBA Stock Picking Competition are as follows:

1st Place: Ivey Business School, Western University
