Brett Barakett is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tremblant Capital Group, a global alternative asset management firm, focused on public equity investments. In this capacity, he oversees the firm’s entire investment process spanning asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk management. Since its inception in 2001, Tremblant has frequently appeared in rankings of the top 100 best performing and largest hedge funds.
Mr. Barakett’s background first as an operating manager and then as an investment manager played a critical role in shaping Tremblant’s investment approach and process. Prior to founding Tremblant, Mr. Barakett was a Portfolio Manager at Moore Capital Management, an Equity Analyst at Salomon Brothers, a Global Director at Reebok International, and a Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble.
Mr. Barakett is also an active philanthropist. In 2004, he established The Brett Barakett Foundation, which focuses on education and academic scholarship, to honor those who helped fund his own education. He is also a member of the Ivey Business School’s Advisory Board, has served as a Trustee of Greenwich Academy, and has been a hockey coach in his community.
A Canadian citizen, Mr. Barakett received an HBA (Honors Business Administration) from the Ivey Business School at Western University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Mr. Barakett and his American wife, Meaghan, live with their five children in Greenwich, Connecticut.
