Indicator Definition

The ratio of non-English speakers relative to the total population within the given year.

 

Coding Methodology

The percentage of the total population that speaks English was converted to a seven-point scale in order to make relative difficulties for business travellers more comparable across countries. The raw scores can be obtained on request.  The following coding criteria were applied:
