PhD Research Fellow
Gautam Swain is a General Management PhD candidate at Ivey Business School. Prior to pursuing his graduate studies, Gautam received an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur (India) and worked in the automotive sector.
Gautam’s research focuses on the absence of category stabilization for sectors characterized by radical innovation, collapse of expertise, and decentralization. Gautam’s interests also extend to the social evaluation of categories and its consequences for industries and firms. The empirical settings for his research are in emerging and high-technology industries such as cryptocurrency, FinTech and blockchain domains. His research has been accepted for publication in the book “From Categories to Categorization – Studies in Sociology, Organizations and Strategy at the Crossroads”. Further, he has been invited to present his work at the Strategic Management Society (SMS) annual conference in Berlin.
