Bio
I grew up in Victoria B.C. The outdoors are a great passion of mine; I love hiking, kayaking, golf, and sailing. While enjoying these activities I have learned to appreciate how delicate nature is, and the importance of preserving it. Leading a group that Circumnavigating Vargus Island in Tofino by Kayak was one of my most memorable trips. I spent my first two years at western studying political science. It was during this time that my desire to become involved in economic development started to flourish. At Ivey I am involved with the LEADER project, and the Ivey Business review.

Additional Information

Personal Definition of Sustainability
Sustainability in a business context is when any value created benefits not only the institution and the individuals directly involved, but also external parties. At the same time, the negative impact of operating is minimized, or in the best scenario eliminated. Value can be in the form of profit, innovation, green initiatives, or an increased standard of living. Sustainable business practices are initiatives that are self-sustaining, whether non profit or for profit, and have the ability to positively influence future generations.

Sustainability-in-Action
I have supported initiatives in my native B.C. regarding forestry, farm-fishing practices, and waste water treatment. At Ivey I am involved with the LEADER project. I see this as promoting economic sustainability in eastern European countries. I believe with economic development countries increasingly focus on sustainable initiatives. After teaching in Nizhny Tagil I will be heading to Mumbai India to work in microfinance for two months. Ultimately I am interested in promoting entrepreneurial development.
