Bio
I am currently an HBA1 student, and while I am not pursuing a formal joint degree program, I am completing my major in Media, Information, and Technoculture. My career goals incorporate both degrees, as I hope to pursue a path in a more creative sector (such as digital advertising). While my job may not specifically involve environmental sustainability specifically, this is something I enjoy doing outside of school, so I can give back to my community. Specifically, in addition to my summer jobs, I help with reforestation projects in Vancouver, as well as remain an active executive of EnviroWestern.

Personal Definition of Sustainability
Many people believe sustainability encompasses simply treating our environment with respect.
However, I believe sustainability has to do with internalizing the long-term economic, environmental and social implications of our decisions. In business, many managers focus on short-term gains and disregard the impact their decisions make on the physical resources we take from the earth, the people we utilize, and the economic impacts. Sustainability encompasses all three aspects, ensuring that these resources are utilized appropriately for the next generation of business leaders.

Sustainability-in-Action
I have been EnviroWestern's Promotions Executive for the past two years, and will continue to hold the position for the 2011/2012 year. I have the opportunity to work with all the club project teams (reusable mug team, campus clean up, project grow) and spread word of specific events they are holding. More specifically, I was heavily involved with the "Refill to Win" campaign to combat Tim Hortons' Refill to Win campaign. I helped design promotional flyers, secure donations, and spoke with A News in London to do a piece on the campaign.

Next year, I am also the Ivey HBAA Environmental Coordinator. With respect to planned projects, I hope to run section-wide contests, place clear signage pertaining to recycling in classrooms, and work with the newly formed Ivey Enviro Club to hold speaker events pertaining to sustainability in different career sectors.
