Students will have a chance to hear from two exceptional leaders in very different fields at the fourth annual HBA1 Leadership Conference February 7, 2017. Hosted by the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership, our guests will deliver compelling messages reminding students of the importance of leader character.

REGISTRATION CLOSED

It’s always about the journey. That’s the message women’s hockey champion Cheryl Pounder will address with the HBA audience. Believing that learning from our successes, as well as our failures, is the key to staying on the path toward excellence, Cheryl will demonstrate that true achievement is found on the way to winning gold.

Jaime Watt, will deliver the keynote address, Standing out from the crowd: How to successfully navigate your personal brand and reputation.  He will speak about the importance of character and candour, particularly as students manage their personal and professional reputations.  Navigator is Canada’s leading high-stakes public strategy and communications firm and Jaime is a trusted advisor to business leaders as well as political leaders at all three levels of government across Canada. Jaime has led ground-breaking election campaigns that have transformed politics because of their boldness and creativity.

As part of the day, students will participate in workshops to understand their own personalized self-assessment of leader character and identify how character plays out in the leadership of Nelson Mandela.

The day is made possible by a generous alumnus, who so firmly believed in the importance of candour, donated $1 million to support research and teaching in this critical area.
