Teaching

Ivey’s mission is "To develop business leaders who think globally, act strategically, and contribute to the societies within which they operate." At the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership, we seek to amplify Ivey’s mission through our focus on leader character. While competencies reflect what a person can do, character determines what a person will do. Character influences every choice a person makes about what to do in any given situation, and as such, the development of character is the central component to our student leadership programming.

The Institute provides a series of special events that bring students together with leaders from all sectors of business to learn about their leadership journey.

Teaching Materials & Development

Cases, case series and practitioner articles provide a real-world context for learning the skills of leadership.

Speaker Series

Ivey hosts leaders with a wide range of experiences – from the military and not-for-profit sectors to business leaders from top organizations – for class visits and special events.

Case Competition

The Ivey Business School and the Haskayne School of Business organize the annual East Meets West MBA Leadership Case Competition.  The EMW is collaboration between the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership and the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business.
