William (Bill) Cummings

Bill Cummings joined the Canadian Forces in 1984 and served in The Royal Canadian Regiment until his retirement in 2020.  His military service has seen him deployed on three operational tours; Cyprus, Bosnia and Afghanistan, as well as several domestic operations.  His work outside of operations has taken him into several functional areas including Army procurement, Army capability development, joint operations management, special operations units, Army individual training and Canadian and international professional military education institutions. 

His education has ranged widely from a BEng in Civil Engineering (RRMC/RMC), a certificate in combat arms fighting systems design (RMCS Shrivenham), an MDS focused on operational design methodologies (RMC) and an MA focused on U.S. foreign policy and hegemony (King’s College London).

He is currently employed as the Senior Staff Officer for Professional Concepts and Leader Development responsible for our Military Ethos, Profession of Arms and Leadership Doctrine, CDS Guidance to Commanding Officers and their Leadership Teams, and management of CDA Press.
