Bio
I was born and raised on a cash crop farm in South Western Ontario. I started my university career at Huron University College, where I became interested in issues of poverty and economic development in African countries. While completing my HBA2 year, I will also be completing my degree in Global Development and Globalization studies from Huron. In August, I will be leaving to Mwanza, Tanzania, with an organization called Western Heads East, Western's community based response to the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa.

Personal Definition of Sustainability
Sustainability is so difficult to define, as it can mean so many different things depending on context. From a business perspective, sustainability means creating processes and products that will ensure the long-term well-being of our society, our earth, and every living creature that inhabits it. It involves instilling into business decision-makers that we are all citizens in a global village, and that it is essential to preserve the welfare and safety of this global citizenry.

Sustainability-in-Action
One sustainability project that I have been involved with is Western Heads East. This project is an HIV/AIDS and women's empowerment initiative in East Africa. It seeks to find community-based, grass roots solutions to the HIV/AIDS crisis, while creating awareness of the crisis within the Western community. For the past three years I have been a member of the Fundraising and Education Executive Committee, which spearheads the awareness portion of Western Heads East's mission. This coming year, I will be co-chair of the committee, coordinating various educational and fundraising events throughout the school year. Additionally, I will be interning in from August - November in Mwanza, Tanzania, helping to create business presentations and modules to share with the women's groups in East Africa, as well as completing research on the project.
