Bio
Along with completing my HBA degree, I plan on finishing an Honors Specialization in Biology, which I was enrolled in before accepting Ivey. I am excited about putting both of these credentials to use upon graduation. That being said, I have limited idea as to what I want to do career wise. I am interested in environmental and global issues, specifically the water and food crisis, as well as social challenges (human rights).

Personal Definition of Sustainability
I think that sustainability is less a practice than it is a process. It is defined not by a single choice but by a series of choices. Furthermore, acting sustainably involves complex decisions. It requires us to evaluate our choices as individuals and communities both in terms of current benefit and future impact. Acting sustainably requires that we preserve the stability and well being of the natural environment when pursuing social and economic interests.

Sustainability-in-Action
I have little previous experience with sustainability projects however I have big plans for the future. Lucy Gao and myself are the co-founders of the HBA Sustainability Club that is to be in place starting September 2011. Lucy and I have been in touch with many professors involved in the sustainability centre at Ivey as well as an MBA student who founded the Ivey sustainability initiatives team. We have plan on acting as a liaison between the Ivey Centre for Building Sustainable Value and HBA students. There are so many great events, speakers and challenges that the Centre hosts that unfortunately are not promoted to HBA students. Lucy and I hope to change all that by instilling constant communication. We also plan to ask Ivey professors to give talks regarding their sustainability based research to our club's members. Our goal is that HBA students see sustainability as less of an individual concept and more of a philosophy that is present in all business areas.
