I am now pursuing my HBA and Sustainability Certificate through Ivey, with an interest in marketing, design, and sustainability. Some of my interests and hobbies include reading, snowboarding, scuba diving, and travelling. My work experience is comprised of retail work, restaurant waitressing, being a pharmacy technician, and an IT administrator. I am passionate and devoted to my learning and growth that will come from the Sustainability Certificate.

Personal Definition of Sustainability

We have the opportunity to create a long-term positive impact on the environment through sustainability initiatives. Sustainability, to me, is the practice of creating positive environmental, social, and economic changes that will ultimately benefit the earth we live on. We must aim to meet our own current needs, without sacrificing the needs of future generations to come, through implementing sustainable practices in both our personal, and professional lives. Sustainability entails minimizing negative impact, while creating as much positive contribution as possible.

Sustainability-In-Action

In my last year at McGill, I was a volunteer Creative Director for a charity fashion show called ECOuture. ECOuture Fashion Show is an event that is organized and put on by McGill students, in order to raise money and donate the proceeds to the Evergreen Foundation, whose mission is to bring nature back to cities across Canada, contributing to building a more sustainable city environment. Through my involvement in this charity event, I was able to be creative in designing the stage set, as well as integrating my music choices into a runway soundtrack. In terms of future sustainability activities, I will be participating in the Service Learning in Africa trip for five weeks this May. I chose to participate in this program to demonstrate my interest in sustainability, as well as building a global mindset and experiencing other cultures. This will be my first step in completing the Sustainability Certificate, and showing my dedication to gaining experience in this field.
