Melanie joined the Sustainable Finance Lab in 2020 after receiving an Honours Specialization in Environmental Science from Western University and an Honours Business Administration from Ivey Business School. In 2023, she completed a Master of Environmental Studies in Sustainability Management at the University of Waterloo, where she researched support for the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and its impact on investment decisions in Public Pension Funds. Recently, she has received the Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting credential from the IFRS Foundation.
Melanie has experience building an ESG integration strategy at an institutional investor, working at an ESG data technology start-up, and teaching guest lectures on ESG Data and Ratings Management at the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy. Her research in the Lab has focused on supporting the development of the Deshkan Ziibi Conservation Impact Bond and the Reconciling Business Schools initiative.
