We are celebrating a milestone event in the life of the Ivey Fintech Club -- the release of a new student, fintech publication called The Perspectives. Today the first issue was published and distributed to over 800 HBA students, with copies also being distributed across the Western campus. A digital version of The Perspectives is available online at the Ivey Fintech Club’s Medium Page: https://medium.com/iveyfintechclub/perspectives/home .

The mission of The Perspectives is to drive thought leadership on the future of financial services innovation, digital disruption, and everything tech. The inaugural issue certainly meets this ambitious goal, with feature articles on blockchain, AI, peer-to-peer lending, cryptocurrencies, open banking, and mobile wallets. It also features an interview with Eero Traagel, Associate Partner with IBM Global Business Services.

Sponsored by the Scotiabank Digital Banking Lab, The Perspectives was conceived, created, designed and written entirely by Ivey and Western students. Both the Ivey Fintech Club and The Perspectives are the result of 18 months of hard work behind the scenes by the inaugural Fintech Club president, Eric Bujold (HBA2017), and the current Co-president, Justin Tang (HBA2018). Since its launch in late 2016, the Ivey Fintech Club has attracted more than 500 students across Western University to its case competitions, its speaker events, and its educational workshops.

One of the Ivey Fintech Club’s goals is to engage students in learning about the digital transformation of banking and financial services. The Perspectives provides an opportunity for students to voice their opinions in this dynamic space. The magazine is coordinated by Co-President, Justin Tang, and VP - Co-Head of Research, Max Goyzman (HBA2018), with the involvement of a large team of students – both an Editorial Board and contributors – who designed the publication and authored the articles. Special thanks to Co-Head of Research: Kevin Kim, Editorial Board members: Connor Hutchinson, David Mirynech, Habib Jaffer, Frank Wang, Ioana Diaconescu, and Ivey FinTech’s development team: Bryon Luk, Chris Oswald, Matthew Clemiss, Max Verzunov, Manjinder Kamboj. The plan is to publish two issues each year – one per semester. Quotes

“With Ivey FinTech, our goal has always been to increase students’ exposure to digital disruption and contribute to a more multi-faceted learning experience. The Perspectives help us achieve this in three ways. 1. It provides a platform for talented students to voice their opinions drive thought leadership and help shape the future of business. 2. Getting it into the hands of thousands of students mean we will be able to reach an even broader audience. 3. It will act as Ivey FinTech’s primary medium to offer students with exposure to tech and digital disruption. All of these in combination help advance the goals of the Scotiabank Digital Banking Lab at Ivey.”
- Justin Tang, Co-President, Ivey FinTech Club

"When we launched Ivey FinTech last year, the biggest question was how we could get our message out and attract students. While we thought that we would need to push students to join the club, it’s been the exact opposite. We could not have anticipated the level of passion and quality of work that our students put into The Perspectives. It’s truly amazing to see how forward-looking Ivey and Western students are and we’re glad to provide a medium for them to voice their thoughts.”
- Max Goyzman, Co-head of Research
