The Ivey FinTech Club recently hosted its first ever 'Here & Now' speaker series which is a new initiative designed to be a platform on which individuals in industry and students can share their experiences working with new technologies. 'Here & Now' also provides an opportunity for students to learn through first hand accounts and interactive Q & A's.
The first event was themed around Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Speakers included James Elmhirst, a Senior Consultant at Chisel AI, and Tanaby Mofrad from the Lantern Institute who shared his experience as the Director of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Scotiabank. Student speakers from Western touched upon their experience in optimizing algorithmic-trading at RBC and utilizing computer vision to identify cells in brain tissue samples.
