On September 23, the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership will host its annual Ivey HBA Leadership Day – a day dedicated to the development of our HBA1 students as leaders. The HBA class will have the opportunity to have a first-hand look at the development of good leadership and leader character from a leadership panel of notable leaders, a world-renowned keynote speaker, a case class, and a Leadership Cafe.
Keynote Address: Chris Cull

Founder of Inspire By Example, Chris Cull's inspiring achievements in health sciences and policy are rooted in his personal transformation from opioid addiction to recovery and advocacy. In 2014, Chris overcame a near decade long addiction to opioids and cycled across Canada twice to raise awareness for mental health, addictions and the opioid crisis. He documented his journey exploring the impacts of the opioid crisis across Canada in his first film, "Inspire". He is also the creator of the docuseries "Surviving Addiction", highlighting the humanity behind addiction and how it affects individuals and those surrounding them.
A motivational speaker, filmmaker, healthcare worker and policy consultant, Chris uses his experience to advocate for mental health and addictions. He has shared his expertise and advised numerous institutions, including but not limited to, the Ontario Health Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM), the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA), Harvard University and the Canadian Minister of Health. He also serves on the World Health Organization's Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on Mental Health, Neurological and Substance Use Conditions, as well as the Canadian delegation to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs.

The panel of leaders represent a broad range of perspectives, and their message will focus on the learning that happens to good leaders throughout their lives – the experiences and influences that enable leaders to know what to do, how to act and how to lead during tumultuous and trying times. Students will participate in a mini case class in their section classrooms, led by Ivey faculty.
Leadership Cafe (optional)

Ivey alumni and friends of the Leadership Institute will be available to hold small group discussions with interested students.
