Patrick Gregg, MSc Analytics
Gregg, Patrick
I’m part of the 2017 MSc program in the inaugural analytics class. Over the next year, I will be posting blogs and sending out some tweets to fill you in on the MSc experience in general and more specifically about the analytics stream.
To give you some background, I moved to Ontario on New Year’s Day from my hometown of Calgary. I spent my undergraduate years in Edmonton at the University of Alberta pursuing a BSc in Geology. Upon graduation, I worked for an inspection company that specialized in oil and gas equipment before deciding to come to Ivey.
My main motivation for applying to the MSc program was targeting what I see as a rapidly emerging trend toward data-driven decision-making practices across industries. I was also really excited about the opportunity to expand my business knowledge and leadership experience through working with a group of smart, dedicated students.
The first month of the program has been challenging and rewarding at the same time. I’m excited to move into the Ivey Analytics Lab term and will be providing some updates on my experience as it begins this May.
Rachelle De Muy, MSc CEMS-MIM
I am currently pursuing an MSc in International Business with the CEMS MIM designation, and through this I will have the opportunity to spend two semesters studying abroad. First, I will be studying at the University of Sydney in Australia, and then I will venture to WU (Vienna University of Economics & Business) in Austria.
I recently completed my undergraduate degree at Concordia University in Montreal, with a specialization in Mathematics and Statistics. I love travelling and learning about new cultures and am always excited to learn other languages, which is why I decided to pursue the CEMS designation. So far, I have had many different international experiences, including two study abroad terms in England and Spain, participating in an archaeological excavation in Italy, and, most recently, interning at Walt Disney World in Florida this past summer!
My favourite part about living in a different country is meeting new people, because I feel there is something to be learned from everyone.
I love taking a lot of pictures and GoPro videos, and I can’t wait to share them with you! First stop on my latest international adventure: Nicaragua for our Ivey Global Lab.
Aakash Ahuja, MSc CEMS-MIM
I am a foodie by stomach, an entrepreneur by profession, and a musician by heart. Currently I’m doing the Master in Management degree with a focus in International business and a CEMS designation. For the Winter 2017 term I’ll be going to VSE, Prague for my CEMS exchange.
I studied Computer Science for my undergraduate degree, so I didn’t get any formal education in business. After completing a graduate credit course in Marketing Management at Harvard University, I was intrigued by the business field and wanted to gain formal business knowledge. Following my passion for music, I co-founded a production studio in Delhi, India (still working for it!). So if you ever want to talk about music or food, you know who to approach.
In a couple of months I’ll be embarking on a three-month internship to Nicaragua as part of the Ivey Global Lab (IGL), which will most certainly add to my international exposure portfolio and hopefully encourage my learning some Spanish. Over the next few months I’ll be writing blogs to provide you with some insight into my personal experience with the MSc program and the IGL. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with you.
Charles Brown, MSc International Business
I studied psychology in my undergrad at Western University and am thrilled to be back in London to start this new adventure at Ivey. I am in the International Business stream of the MSc program. I decided to pursue this program because of my long-term career goal of starting my own business in the developing world that empowers the less fortunate. Volunteering for charities in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Zambia, South Africa, and Malawi, has certainly fueled this aspiration. Now that I am a couple of months into the MSc, I can confidently say this is an amazing new program that provides rich and diverse learning experiences. This is why I am thrilled to be on the Ivey MSc Communications team; it gives me the opportunity to share these experiences — from academic and social events at Ivey and around London to the Ivey Global Lab in India.
Evan Chung, MSc International Business
I was born in Fort McMurray a small oil town a couple hours drive to Calgary and moved overseas to Doha, Qatar when I was five only to return to Canada 13 years later to attend University. I then spent four years in Ottawa, at the Telfer School of Management (Ottawa U.) earning a Bachelors of Commerce specializing in International Management. After graduating I spent a few years in Toronto working in the financial services sector, until I made my decision to go back to school and pursue my MSc.
I hope that you will follow along, as we here at Ivey try to give an authentic view of what student life is like in the MSc program. I am excited to share my experiences throughout the program with you, watch out for my next blog post!
